A Lakers problem is identified by Anthony Davis during the Magic Game.
A number of roster adjustments were made by the Los Angeles Lakers in advance of the 2023–24 NBA season.
The Lakers appear to have a full roster, with talented players capable of filling all five spots.
Consistency in their opponents is something the Lakers currently lack, though.
The Lakers’ most recent loss to the Orlando Magic serves as a prime illustration of it, as the 17-time NBA champs struggled to get rebounds against the Magic.
On Twitter, Lakers player Anthony Davis pointed up a major problem for the Lakers versus the Magic through Spectrum SportsNet.
“In the first quarter, we just put ourselves in a hole,” Davis remarked.
As Davis indicated, the Magic led the Lakers by a significant margin at the end of the first quarter—39 to 25.
The Lakers managed to score a couple runs after the first quarter, but not quite enough to close the gap.
The Magic’s dominance on the boards was a major contributing factor in the Lakers’ difficulties.
In the video that is posted above, Anthony Davis addressed the problem and said that the Lakers’ failure to pull down offensive rebounds was the reason for their loss.
In terms of offensive rebounds, the Magic had a 19-10 advantage against the Lakers after four quarters.
The Magic made the most of their superior rebounding abilities since they frequently get second-chance scores when they secure offensive rebounds.
Ultimately, the Los Angeles Lakers finished with a 3-3 record and are currently ranked ninth in the Western Conference.
The Lakers will have to work on their rebounding going forward or else they might find themselves out of the running for the 2023–24 NBA Championship sooner rather than later.
