It has been reported to Liverpool that they possess a young talent with incredible speed inside their ranks.
This season, the Reds have plenty of forward speed.Genuine front-runners include Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, while Mohamed Salah is still very much in the mix.
But Trent Kone-Doherty, 17, might be the fastest of the four, says Derry City U19s boss Gerard Boyle. Boyle, who managed Kone-Doherty before he joined Liverpool, discussed his observations about the young player in an interview with the Liverpool ECHO today.
The coach claims that Trent has always had superb close control and proven adept at using both feet to take on the ball.
“He could accelerate and decelerate with amazing speed. Trent likes to sprint at opponents when moving the ball and could often elude them before making a quality pass or shooting.
“He has an excellent attitude, extremely well-mannered, and open to advice and information.” Every one of his teammates appreciate him. He is always smiling.
Kone-Doherty moving quickly up the ranks
It took Kone-Doherty a year to become accustomed to the U18 team, but he is now beginning to draw attention from Liverpool’s upper management.
First off, the young Irishman has come and gone from the U21 team this season, playing in three Premier League 2 games and scoring one goal.
Then, Jurgen Klopp brought him up to first-team training.
Even though Kone-Doherty’s senior debut hasn’t yet resulted from that call-up, it doesn’t seem too far off at this point.

Trent can find himself compared to Ben Doak because they arrived at the same time and have similar roles.
Even though the two have similar speeds, Kone-Doherty shouldn’t be bothered by it. Doak is older than the Irishman by a year and has advanced in his development by a year.
One day, it would be amazing to witness Doak intimidating a full-back while Kone-Doherty does the same on the opposing side.
That might not be the case for Liverpool in the future. In any case, it appears that young Trent will eventually have his opportunity. Based on what his previous coach said, we would anticipate that he would accept it.
