Dominik Szoboszlai, a midfielder for Liverpool, has been declared by Paul Merson to be his new favourite Premier League player.
Szoboszlai arrived at Anfield this summer and immediately made an impact. The 23-year-old, who arrived from RB Leipzig, gives the appearance of having played for Liverpool his entire life.
Merson takes this into account in his Premier League picks for Sportskeeda this week. The commentator believes the Reds will defeat Luton Town 3-0 on Sunday and singles out Szoboszlai for special attention.
On the flip side, I think that Dominik Szoboszlai has been the best player in the Premier League this year; he’s been fantastic! exclaimed the former midfielder for England.
“He’s come into a brand new league for a huge fee and settled in quicker than snow, that is some achievement.”
Merson extols Szoboszlai effulgently
“Settled quicker than snow” is a quote we like from Merson and may use. It’s a good example of how well Szoboszlai has adjusted to living in Liverpool.
Maybe it’s sometimes oversold how much of a step up it can be for players to play in the Premier League.
To some extent, top level football is still top level football, even though it could be a little faster and more intense than other leagues around the world.
Competent athletes has the ability to seamlessly transition from one level to the next.
That could be the crucial aspect in this case, though. How many guys do you see who have never played in England before come in and fire things up?

The top players are usually on the list, even if it probably isn’t that short.
Erling Haaland, Szobo’s teammate at Manchester City, completed the task; from a Liverpool perspective, players like Mohamed Salah and Fernando Torres come to mind.
However, they are genuinely elite, top-tier stars that we are discussing. Szoboszlai will need to continue showing himself for a lot longer than he has thus far in order to genuinely add his name to that list.
We would be foolish not to support the Hungarian in accomplishing that and more, though, given what we have seen of him since August.
