After eliminating Bournemouth in the League Cup, Storm Ciaran’s effect has caused disruptions to Liverpool’s travel arrangements.
At the Vitality Stadium, Jurgen Klopp’s team overcame high gusts and pouring rain to defeat Bournemouth 2-1 in a hard-fought match.
With an away game against Luton set for Sunday, they will have been hoping for a swift trip home.
However, Storm Ciaran’s severe weather, which affected Dorset and parts of the south coast, forced them to cancel their post-match trip home, changing their original plans.
It was obvious that there would be strong winds, but playing football in such conditions is really different, according to Klopp.
“We have a long drive home now, but it feels much better going to the next round.”
Liverpool’s players will now return home early on Thursday morning, much like the fans who are travelling, giving them just a few days to prepare for their match against Luton.
Travelling 265 miles on land from Bournemouth to Liverpool will require approximately five hours of nonstop travel.
The players won’t feel too uncomfortable despite the unfavourable disruption. They are taken care of in their opulent coach, and they may even be able to sleep in the process.
Though it’s possible that there won’t be as much singing as on the coaches of the supporters, who will already be focused on the next round.
The week of December 18 is when the next round of quarterfinals will take place.
