After his success with Aston Villa, Robbie Fowler has speculated that Unai Emery would eventually succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
The legendary Anfield player asserted in an interview with the Mirror that the former manager of Arsenal possesses the necessary qualities to succeed Klopp at Liverpool, should the German ever decide to leave Merseyside.
“I think Unai Emery is one of the few managers who would be up to the challenge of replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool,” Fowler remarked, offering Unai Emery the highest praise possible.
Since taking over for Steven Gerrard at Villa Park last year, Emery has been a revelation for Villa, as the Spanish manager has guided the team to a UEFA Europa Conference League position.
Emery has been a visible success at Villa, and with the Birmingham-based team currently vying for a top-four spot, a move to Liverpool may be imminent.
But when the time comes for Liverpool to replace Klopp, they know they can perform better than Emery since we have all seen where Villa’s present success is headed.
Liverpool can do so much better than Emery
He may be living the high life with Villa, but as Arsenal supporters are well aware, the collapse is only around the corner, and Liverpool cannot afford to bring in a manager with such a track record.
There’s a strong possibility that Klopp may outlast Emery at Villa without ever leaving Liverpool, as the German manager is not expected to leave Anfield for a number of years.
Although Emery appears like the ideal fit for Villa, many Liverpool supporters would want a more dependable figure. Still, the thought of signing the Spaniard would make sense to pundits like Fowler.
