Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, which was played in appalling weather circumstances, earned them a spot in the League Cup quarterfinals. The match was met with mixed player ratings.
League Cup Fourth Round, Vitality Stadium
November 1, 2023
Goals: Kluivert 64′; Gakpo 31′, Nunez 70′
Name – Caoimhin Kelleher – 6 (out of 10)
Struggled occasionally with distribution and handling aerial balls, but considering the circumstances, he shouldn’t be held to a rigorous standard. still made a few respectable stops.
Joe Gomez – 8
Was a helpful outlet as Liverpool controlled the first half, and in the second he remained defensively focused. At one point, very skillfully cleared out the queue.
Joel Matip – 7
A seasoned head that handled the awful wind better than anyone. His aggressive defence made sure Bournemouth wasn’t as strong as they could have been.
Jarell Quansah – 8 (Man of the Match)
Did not appear to be twenty years old while assisting in the second period’s defence against an aerial onslaught.
Shown a strong passing range and ability to bring the ball out from back during the first half as well. Liverpool is holding onto a treasure.
Kostas Tsimikas – 6
In the absence of Andy Robertson, a consistent presence at left-back. did not perform as well as he might have created, but he performed his defensive duties admirably.
Wataru Endo – 6
He moved around and was reasonably neat with the ball, but he found it difficult to assist Liverpool play out when Bournemouth applied pressure in the second half.
Curtis Jones – 6
Barely lost the ball, as you might expect, but otherwise had a peaceful evening before giving way at the hour.
Harvey Elliott – 8
Based on his three crucial passes during the game, he was Liverpool’s most inventive player of the evening. The fact that his shot led to Gakpo’s opening is also not by accident.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7
From an unfamiliar wide position, he managed four shots and a crucial pass, but it only made you want him to be in the middle, where he could have even more impact.
Mohamed Salah – 6
Even when opportunities are few, Mohamed Salah is a constant threat to defences. He is not the same Mohamed Salah of old. showed up for the ball all the time.
Cody Gakpo – 7
Less opportunities to showcase his superb hold-up play when starting wide, but he made an effort to be accessible. adroitly completed his goal from close range.
