Three competitions in six games as the Reds try to stay up with LFC in November
Liverpool will play six games in November, four of which will be away games, as they attempt to build on their strong beginnings in three different tournaments.
The Reds have started 2023–24 with a spotless record in both the Europa League and the League Cup, and they have also maintained a strong pace in the first division with the leaders.
The goal for Jurgen Klopp’s team will be to advance in both cup competitions, with a keen eye towards a pivotal matchup at the top of the table at the end of the month.
In preparation for another busy few weeks, here are all the dates you need to mark on your calendar.
November 1 – Bournemouth (A)
Liverpool defeated Leicester 3-1 at Anfield in September to begin what they hope will be a long journey to Wembley. They now have a chance to advance past the Cherries to the round of eight.
After their first ten Premier League games, Andoni Iraola’s team is just above the relegation zone. They will be hoping to upset the Reds, who will be playing a shuffled lineup, at the Vitality.
November 5 – Luton (A)
Four days later, the Reds will travel an equally lengthy distance to take on Luton in an attempt to build on their encouraging Premier League season debut.
This marks not just the first Premier League meeting since 1992, but also the first time Liverpool have visited Kenilworth Road since an FA Cup third-round match back in 2008.
As we attempt to sustain what is beginning to appear to be a serious title tilt, the Reds will be eager to continue the pressure on those surrounding them.
November 9 – Toulouse (A)
The only other meeting between Toulouse and Liverpool was a doubleheader during the 2007–08 Champions League qualification season. In actuality, that was the final time the two teams played each other.
The French team impressed at Anfield and ultimately lost 5-1, but if the away match is even half as interesting as the home leg, we could be in for a treat.
With a win, we would guarantee our status in Group E, skip the playoff round in February, and advance directly to the round of sixteen in the Europa League knockout round.
November 12 – Brentford (H)
This month, Liverpool’s sole Premier League home game is against Brentford, a team in the middle of the standings. We aim to win and force another forced break.
The previous time Thomas Frank’s team visited Anfield, the Reds won 1-0, while the matchup from January ended in a devastating 3-1 loss.
November 13-22 – International break
Yes, there is, in some way, another one!
Fortunately, the Premier League won’t be interrupted by international breaks for the next four months, so we won’t have to deal with them until March.
The last international break of 2023–2024 will take place in March. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the season, the first three happen quickly one after the other!
November 25 – Man City (A)
When we return, there will be a massive match at the Etihad, where Liverpool will face Man City and learn a lot about their title chances.
The manager will not be pleased that there will be yet another international break and a 12.30pm kickoff.
With a performance and a result, hopefully, the Reds can set the record straight and convince Pep Guardiola’s team that we are in this race for the long haul.
November 30 – LASK (H)
If all goes according to plan, this matchup will be more of a dead rubber, giving Klopp even more opportunity to rotate his team than he had in the Europa League.
In September’s rematch in Austria, the Reds overcame a deficit—a trend they established early in the campaign!
If Liverpool wins in France against Toulouse, they will want to stay competitive and try to keep their flawless European record this season, even if the game is ultimately meaningless.
