Thiago Alcantara has been out of action for the entire season due to injury, but Pep Lijnders is excited to see him back for Liverpool.
The Liverpool manager praised the talent the Spanish master would bring to the midfield with the new additions in remarks to the media prior to the Reds’ League Cup match against AFC Bournemouth.
Lijnders remarked, “Thiago is missed.” I really have missed him. Imagine that Thiago is leading our new, much-discussed midfield with him in the midst. It’ll need some time. He will not be accessible.
With four new additions this summer, Liverpool completely revamped their midfield. Three of those players made their debuts for Jurgen Klopp’s team on Sunday in their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
It’s unlikely that Thiago would crack into Klopp’s preferred starting lineup, but there’s no doubting that the former Bayern Munich player would be a fantastic asset in the middle.
Additionally, Thiago’s return to first team activity might have a significant impact on the development of young players at Liverpool like Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.
When Thiago returns, he can play a significant role for Liverpool.
Thiago is currently one of the team’s oldest players and the most seasoned midfielder in the current lineup following the events of this summer.
Additionally, Thiago, a £25 million player, should feel more comfortable stepping up to lead the group and serve as an example for the team’s younger midfield players as a result of this.
Although Thiago’s career at Liverpool may come to an end in 2024, the midfield player needs to demonstrate to those around him that he can be a teacher in the present and future.
