Owen Hargreaves asserts something regarding Ryan Gravenberch that can be contentious.
Owen Hargreaves has compared Ryan Gravenberch in a way that “Liverpool fans won’t like.”
In the past few weeks, Gravenberch has truly blossomed. The Dutchman’s impact on the Reds is increasing after he recorded back-to-back Premier League starts this past weekend.
Hargreaves said as much yesterday while appearing on The Kelly & Wrighty Show on Optus Sports. However, the former midfielder for Manchester United made a potentially offensive statement on Gravenberch in the process.
According to the expert, “He has played amazing (in the Europa League), and because he has played well there, he gets the opportunity to play in the Premier League.” So far, so good.
“He reminds me that he is [Paul] Pogba-esque, which I know Liverpool fans won’t enjoy. He is a very talented man. He has versatility as a player. He is quite large. outstanding agility.
“However, I believe he is one of those players you will need to focus on a certain position, even though I really enjoy watching him so far.” He is going to be a great addition to Bayern’s midfield, therefore I am surprised he didn’t play more for them.
Hargreaves makes Gravenberch claimÂ
As Hargreaves is stating this, Liverpool fans really have no reason to be offended in the slightest.
At one point, Pogba was regarded as one of the greatest players in the world, despite the fact that he ultimately turned out to be something of an expensive bust for United and has since returned to Juventus as a somewhat sad figure.
The explanations for this include all the characteristics Hargreaves lists as belonging to Gravenberch as well.
When Pogba was on top of his game, he could take over any match. The Frenchman was everything a midfielder could ask for: he was big, strong, technically proficient, goal-scoring, and reliable on defence.

There’s a reason for the world record price United once paid for him. That shouldn’t be entirely concealed by his fall from grace in the intervening years.
To be fair, Pogba did succeed in reaching the highest points of his career as well.
Gravenberch would likely snatch your hand off if you offered him a goal-scoring turn in a winning World Cup final.
However, considering Pogba’s past experiences after his triumph in Russia five years ago, Liverpool supporters will be praying that their new No. 38 doesn’t have the same fate.
