The 20-year-old Liverpool player left Pep Lijnders in awe.
Harvey Elliott’s training performances have garnered acclaim from Pep Lijnders, assistant manager of Liverpool.
For the Reds thus far in the season, Elliott has been a reliable player. Due to a few outstanding bench performances, the 20-year-old has developed a reputation as a “super-sub.”
And during today’s  pre-Bournemouth press conference, Lijnders stated that Elliott’s recent success stems from the training field.
The coach stated, “I met with Harvey perhaps two or three weeks ago. I’ve never seen him this good in training and he wasn’t playing at the time.
“We also wanted him to be really consistent in his performance, which he is.” He behaves more senior than you might expect, much like Curtis [Jones], who has been a part of our company for a very long time and who also has the personality to act that way.
“He has to create, make the final pass, arrive, and score. He makes an impact. We’re all able to observe that he is an extremely talented player.
Lijnders raves about Elliott
Lijnders should be the one Liverpool supporters listen to when they discuss the team’s training sessions.
Ever since being elevated to Jurgen Klopp’s right-hand man, the Dutchman has been running workouts.
Jurgen frequently acts as merely an observer, but Lijnders plans and directs the meetings. He therefore knows everything there is to know about training at Liverpool.
Thus, it’s important to pay attention when he claims that someone performed “better than ever” in the AXA pitches. Elliott, on the other hand, is not surprised; during the season, the young player has excelled.
Elliott has, of course, looked better when he has come off the bench as opposed to beginning games, but it is all a part of his developing into this squad. He might have been concerned that Klopp would forget about him with all the new players on the team.
Harvey, however, has participated in 12 of the team’s 14 games so far in the new season. He is a vital member of this Liverpool team.
The England U21 international, who is still only 20, will only become better.
Lijnders notes that he feels like a player two or three years older than he actually is because of his maturity and club experience. With more training and guidance from players like Mohamed Salah, his progress might quickly take off. Harvey, keep up the fantastic work.
