Despite playing well during the most recent international break, the Nigerian Super Eagles were unable to move up the FIFA ranking.
The Super Eagles only scored 1.62 points during the October international break, giving them a total of 1490.48 points.
They remained in their September position of 40th in the FIFA ranking for October, and these few points were insufficient to get them out of that position.
Remember that the Super Eagles drew 2-2 in the first friendly match against Saudi Arabia in October before winning 3-2 against Mozambique? Nevertheless, their position on the standings was largely unaffected by the result.
After placing 35th in December, Jose Peseiro’s team suffered a devastating drop in their world ranking in April, dropping to 40th place overall.
It was stated that their decision to skip Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup was the main cause of this drop.
Nigeria dropped to fortyth place in September after two months at the top.
Nigeria’s national team, which has won three African Cup of Nations titles, is placed sixth among all teams in Africa.
Morocco, meanwhile, is still ranked 13th in the world and first in Africa. Senegal is still ranked twentieth in the world and second in Africa.
Egypt (35th), Algeria (33rd), and Tunisia (32nd) are the other three African teams ranked in the top five.
Argentina, the current World Cup champions, is still considered the best nation in the world, surpassing Belgium, France, Brazil, and England.
