Rinsola Babajide is ecstatic to have made her Super Falcons debut after playing as a winger for UDG Tenerife of the Spanish Liga F.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Rinsola Babajide dreamed of being a player for the England Lionesses, but her dream was dashed.
The 25-year-old winger, who had previously played for Brighton and Liverpool, did, however, represent England up to the Under-21 level before she began to explore returning to her homeland.
Babajide was invited to participate in the Super Falcons’ 2024 Olympic Games Women’s qualifier against Ethiopia, which gave her the chance to play for the team at last.
In the 70th minute of the match, which took place on Wednesday, October 25, Rinsola Babajide took Uchenna Kanu’s place.
The game finished in a 1-1 draw at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, and she helped to ensure that the Super Falcons departed Ethiopia with at least a point.
Following the match, Babajide acknowledged on her X page that she and her family are pleased of herself for making her Super Eagles of Nigeria debut.
“A proud moment for my family and me as I make my debut. She wrote, “25.10.23, a date to cherish forever.”
When Nigeria plays Ethiopia in the second leg of their 2024 Olympic Games qualifying match at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Rinsola Babajide will be excited to play her second game for the Super Falcons.
The Nigerian team will play either Cameroon or Uganda in the following round of the qualification series if the Super Falcons defeat Ethiopia.
