Matchday 10 of the 2023–2024 Premier League got underway this afternoon with some tantalizing matches that resulted in three victories and a draw.
At the London Stadium, the afternoon’s first Premier League match pitted struggling Everton against in-form West Ham United. Many football fans were shocked to learn that Everton had won on the road.
With just one goal of the game in the 51st minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin moved Everton up to the 15th position in the league standings, while West Ham fell to the 9th position with 14 points from 10 games.
The match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest was the biggest of three games that were played at the same time.
At Anfied, Liverpool, led by Luis Díaz, who is now dealing with a family problem, defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Darwin Núñez, and Diogo Jota.
Taiwo Awoniyi was brought on in the second half, but it was in vain as Forest fell to 16th place, five points outside of the relegation zone. Liverpool now sits in fourth place with 23 points from 10 games after the victory.
Aston Villa hammered their visitors 3-1 at Villa Park thanks to goals from Moussa Diaby, John McGinn, and Tom Lockyer’s own goal. Emiliano Martínez of Villa scored an own goal to give Luton Town a consolation goal.
With the 3-1 victory, Villa moved up to the fifth position in the Premier League standings, while Luton Town, who have only won once this year, are in the relegation zone at position 18.
Brighton and visiting Fulham shared the spoils at Falmer Stadium, as neither team was able to finish with all three points.
The game finished in a 1-1 draw. João Palhinha’s goal gave Fulham a response in the 65th minute, after Evan Ferguson had given Brighton the lead in the 26th.
Brighton is now in seventh place after the draw, while Fulham, with 12 points from 10 games, is still in 14th place.
