Ever since Ryan Nielsen was brought on board to take over as defensive coordinator for the Falcons, I’ve been curious about his plans for DeAngelo Malone. Malone, a defensive end who was previously selected in the late round, didn’t exactly match Nielsen’s ideal edge presence, in my opinion. Malone’s smaller frame didn’t appear to fit with players like Bud Dupree, Calais Campbell, or even a heavier Arnold Ebiketie, whose frames are as large as they come.
Malone was chosen 82nd overall in the previous year’s draft, and in 216 defensive snaps as a rookie, he recorded 29 tackles and a sack. However, under new management, the former Western Kentucky quarterback hunter (32.5 sacks in five college seasons) has not played a defensive action this season.
Malone would inject instant energy into special teams. “DeAngelo, you go watch in a game and he’s running down on kickoff knocking the hell out of people because he’s just a tough, physical, competitive player,” stated Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot following the conclusion of the previous campaign. Malone would have more opportunities in Jacksonville than in Atlanta, despite the fact that the Jaguars also prize size on defense.

Oh my goodness, it’s so much fun to see the offensive in the event of a Madden-esque deal for Tee Higgins or Mike Evans. However, excluding the cost of a new contract for Ridley, Jacksonville is projected to spend the ninth most in 2024 and the second-most in 2023 at the wide receiver position.
Although there is a case to be made for extra depth, the Jaguars will not be making significant investments at the wide position this autumn. More than anyone could have predicted, Jacksonville’s passing system has missed Zay Jones; it could be prudent to upgrade the WR4 position with a capable pass-catcher.
Since being drafted 59th overall in 2021, Marshall has 62 catches for 751 yards and a touchdown in two and a half seasons. At 6’4″ and 200 pounds, Marshall’s 40-yard sprint time of 4.4 seconds (86th percentile) at the combine would bring a size element that Jacksonville’s receiver corps lacked. Marshall was also the forgotten wideout from LSU’s 2020 championship season.
Fowler revealed on Thursday that Marshall was given authorization to look for a trade; in other words, his representative is informing clubs that Marshall is available for a trade. Although the Panthers added Adam Thielen, Jonathan Mingo, and D.J. Chark this summer and are still in need of receiver help, Marshall always made sense as a trade possibility. However, at this point, Marshall appears to be the most talented and probable wideout to be moved at the deadline.
RB D’Onte Foreman of Chicago

During Philadelphia’s 2017 Super Bowl run, Doug Pederson’s Eagles traded for Jay Ajayi at the deadline after signing LeGarrette Blount prior to the season. Nevertheless, rather than adding another back, the Jaguars may decide to move D’Ernest Johnston up to RB2 instead of Tank Bigsby.
